(from Santa Anita note)Trainer Bobby Frankel entered Midas Eyes as an entry with Peace Rules in Saturday's $1 million Barretts/CTBA Classic, the marquee race on Sunshine Millions Day at Santa Anita Park, but the son of Touch Gold will only run if the weather turns inclement, which is not likely.
"I only entered him in case it rains," Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel said from his Hollywood Park headquarters Wednesday morning. "If not, I'll just go with Peace Rules." Frankel has the Feb. 7 Strub Stakes (gr. II) as the next major objective for Midas Eyes, who, like Peace Rules, is owned by Edmund Gann.
Weather for Saturday's $3.6 million Sunshine Millions, which matches California-breds vs. Florida-breds in four races each at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita, should be clear and fast.
"The outlook is good," track superintendent Steve Wood said Wednesday. "No rain is expected until Sunday night."
The entry of Peace Rules and Midas Eyes is the 9-5 morning line favorite in the Classic.
