Alan Landsburg, 67, founder and chief executive officer of the Landsburg Company and a former member of the board of directors of Youbet.com, has been appointed to the California Horse Racing Board by Gov. Gray Davis.

Landsburg, who lives in Beverly Hills, has been involved in producing more than 50 movies of the week, and also has written and produced a Peabody Award-winning series with Mike Wallace. Landsburg is a director and a founding member of the Thoroughbred Owners of California.

Youbet.com Tuesday announced the resignation of Fell, who was among a slate of directors elected at the company's annual meeting Sept. 21 in Arcadia, Calif.

Davis recently vetoed legislation that would have authorized account wagering in California. Youbet.com has California customers, but they can only download information, not wager through the system.
