Lucky Lionel, a European group II winner and a track record-setter at Santa Anita, has been bought by R.G. Gammill for stallion duty at his Diamond G Ranch near Edmond, Okla. An 11-year-old son of Mt. Livermore, Lucky Lionel has sired stakes winners Crafty Brat and Yogi's Polar Bear, plus five stakes-placed runners. Last year, Crafty Brat won two stakes at Calder Race Course, and Yogi's Polar Bear was an added-money winner at Hollywood Park. Lucky Lionel, who was produced from the Crafty Prospector mare Crafty Nan, will stand for $1,500. He formerly stood at Frank Stronach's Adena Springs South near Ocala, Fla.
