Islington, in her Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf victory.
Islington, an Eclipse Award finalist following her win in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT), is booked to prominent stallion Rainbow Quest, who stands at Khalid Abdullah's Banstead Manor Stud near Newmarket, England. Bred by the late Lord Weinstock in the name of Ballymacoll Stud Farm, Islington won six of 15 starts and earned $1,553,043. She ended her career racing for the Executors of the Late Lord Weistock..
"Lord Weinstock would be happy because he and Khalid Abdullah were friends," said Ballymacoll farm manager Peter Reynolds. "We've had group I success with two other offspring of Rainbow Quest. Sought Out won the Prix du Cadran (Fr-I, at 2 1/2 miles) and the other, Spectrum, won the (Irish Two Thousand) Guineas at a mile. We figured the offspring should stay, but have some speed."
Islington, by Sadler's Wells, is out of the Darshaan mare, Hellenic, who is in foal to Sadler's Wells and is due in May. She is booked back to him.
Rainbow Quest (Blushing Groom--I Will Follow, by Herbager) has sired 92 stakes winners.
