Undefeated Hallbridled, who Jan. 26 will most likely be named champion juvenile filly for 2003, will be nominated to the VISA Triple Crown, trainer Richard Mandella told the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The daughter of Unbridled won all four of her starts last year at two, including the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I). She is owned by her breeders, Alain and Gerard Wertheimer.

"I hope sometime in March or April I really have to do a lot of worrying about which way I go," Mandella told the paper. "But until then, I'm not going to."

Only three fillies have ever won the first leg of the Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby (gr. I), this year to be run at Churchill Downs on May 1. The last was Winning Colors in 1988 (the others are Genuine Risk in 1980 and Regret in 1915).

Four fillies have won the Preakness (gr. I): Flocarline, 1903; Whimsical, 1906; Rhine Maiden, 1915; and Nellie Morse, 1924. Two fillies have won the Belmont (gr. I), Ruthless in 1867 and Tanya in 1905.
