Gold Tiara, a 4-year-old daughter of Seeking the Gold bred in Kentucky, zipped seven furlongs in track record time of 1:21.9 to win Sunday's Procyon Stakes (Jpn-III) at Hanshin Racecourse in Japan. Another Kentucky-bred, Eishin Sun Luis (by Conquistador Cielo) finished second in the race contested over a track labeled "heavy.". The victory was the seventh in 17 career starts for Gold Tiara, who races for Kazuko Yoshida and is trained by Kunihide Matsuda. Produced from the Chief's Crown mare Bright Tiara, Gold Tiara was bred by Everest Stables. Consigned to the 1998 Fasig-Tipton Florida February 2-year-olds in training sale by Sunrise Stables South, Gold Tiara was purchased by Yoshida for $200,000. She now has converted earnings of more than $2.5 million.
