The first reported foals by international champion Johannesburg and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner Red Bullet were born the beginning of January. Johannesburg's first offspring is a filly born Jan. 2 at Winchester Farm near Paris, Ky. She is the first foal from the Danehill mare Darling Dancer, who is a half-sister to European group I stakes-placed runners Le Destin and Plaisir des Yeux. Five-year-old Johannesburg (Hennessy--Myth, by Ogygian) stands at Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky. His 2004 fee of $30,000 is the same as last year's price.
Red Bullet, who stands at Frank Stronach's Adena Springs South near Ocala, Fla., is the sire of a Florida-bred filly foaled Jan. 3. She is the second foal from the Skip Trial mare Skip Lightly, who is a half-sister to grade II winner Comeonmom. Second dam Single Blade is a grade I winner. Seven-year-old Red Bullet (Unbridled--Cargo, by Caro) will hold court once again for $30,000.
