Jockey Julie Krone, who was injured in a spill at Hollywood Park Dec. 12, could resume riding by the end of this month, according to her agent, Brian Beach.
The 40-year-old Hall of Fame jockey suffered severe bruises to her upper chest and an injured right shoulder when her mount, Clover Situation, collided with a fallen Skidoo, ridden by David Nuesch.
"The doctor wants to give her a couple more weeks, so we're looking towards the end of January," Beach said. "She'll start getting on horses the week of the 22nd, 23rd, somewhere in there, and probably look to take some calls the last week of January."
Krone, the only female jockey to win a Triple Crown race (Colonial Affair in the 1993 Belmont Stakes) and a Breeders' Cup race (Halfbridled in the 2003 Juvenile Fillies), has 3,704 career victories.
