Jockey Danny Sorenson, sidelined since Sept. 17 with a shoulder fracture, has been cleared to ride again. He will be aboard Giovanneti in the El Canejo Handicap (gr. III) on Jan. 1.
"I'm healthy, feel great and I've been working a lot of horses," the 45-year-old Seattle native said. "Now it's just a matter of getting some horses to ride. I started working horses about two weeks ago once my doctors said everything looked good."

Sorenson suffered an injury to his neck last March 27, recovered from that and began riding at Fairplex Park where he fractured his right shoulder during a post parade mishap five days into the meet.

Vince DeGregory is Sorenson's agent.

Sorenson will ride Giovannetti for Frank Monteleone in the $100,000 El Conejo Handicap (gr. III) at 5 ½ furlongs on New Year's Day.

"Danny won the Gold Cup on him at Turf Paradise and Danny needs some help right now," Monteleone said. "He rode the horse great, so we'll let Danny ride him again."

Probable for El Conejo: Giovannetti, Sorenson; King Robyn, Alex Solis; and Summer Service, Mike Smith.

King Robyn worked five furlongs Sunday in 1:01.20 for Jeff Mullins.
