Centaur Farms' Redoubled Miss made a strong, late run to win the $100,000 Stage Door Betty Handicap at Calder on Saturday to barely edge Grab Bag by a nose. Pampered Princess was only a head behind the first two finishers in a fantastic finish.
The photo finish broke a streak of four runner-up finishes for Redoubled Miss, who is trained by Ron Spatz at Calder. Eibar Coa was the winning rider.
Pampered Princess set the pace in much of the 1 1/16 miles race under jockey Gary Boulanger. Coming down the stretch, it was a three-horse race between her, Grab Bag on the rail, and Redoubled Miss on the outside. The winner covered the distance in 1:46 3/5.
Redoubled Miss paid $7.40, 3.80 and 3.00; Grab Bag returned $5.60 and 4.80; Pampered Princess, sent off at odds of 35-to-1, paid $11.80 to show.
