Krone Eyes January Return from Rib Fracture

Brian Beach, agent for Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone, looks for a January return at Santa Anita for the 40-year-old rider, injured in a spill at Hollywood Park on Dec. 12.

"A CAT scan Thursday showed that she had two fractured ribs in her upper right rib cage," said Beach. "Her doctor was amazed she was up and walking around so quickly (in her home in Carlsbad). She won't ride the first book at Santa Anita (through Jan. 6) but I'm looking for her to be back shortly after that."

Krone, who had 23 wins, led riders at the Hollywood Park meet with five stakes victories.
