Stakes Winning Mare Cassidy Retired; To Be Bred to Cat Thief

Azalea Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) winner Cassidy has been retired from racing and will be bred to Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) winner Cat Thief, according owner Peter J. Mirabelli.The 5-year-old mare won four stakes races besides the Azalea, and retires with eight wins from 25 starts and earnings of $440,774. In her last start, Cassidy (Jolie's Halo--Hop a Jet, by Riva Ridge) finished third in the six-furlong Endine Stakes at Delaware Park. She was trained by Manuel A. Estevez.
