Ohio's three Thoroughbred racetracks have been approved for a total of 293 racing dates for 2016 as approved Sept. 29 by the Ohio State Racing Commission.

Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course was approved for two meets. The track near Youngstown was awarded 60 programs from Jan. 2-April 23 and 40 more from Oct. 28-Dec. 28.

ThistleDown Racino in the Cleveland suburbs was granted 100 racing days from April 25-Oct. 22. Belterra Park Gaming near Cincinnati will race 93 programs from April 29-Oct. 8.

Mahoning Valley and Belterra Park also were awarded a handful of Quarter Horse dates; the races normally are included on Thoroughbred programs.

Four Standardbred tracks applied for a total of 477 racing dates, with Northfield Park Rocksino near Cleveland leading the way at 221 programs spread over the full year. Miami Valley Gaming and Racing near Lebanon was granted 86 days from Jan. 9-May 8.

Scioto Downs Racino in Columbus applied for 95 programs from May 10-Sept. 17, while Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway asked for 75 nights of racing from Sept. 12-Dec. 30. The applications for those two harness tracks weren't approved pending resolution of a week in which both meets would overlap.
