Trainer Henry Cecil won the Vodafone (Epsom) Oaks (Eng-I) for the seventh time Friday when Lordship Stud's Love Divine posted a two-length triumph as the 9-4 favorite. The win gave the conditioner his fourth triumph in the last five runnings of the Oaks.
Ridden by Richard Quinn, Love Divine was settled off the relatively slow pace set by Lady Upstage and Clipper leaders before taking the lead with two furlongs remaining. Kalypson Kate finished second, with Melikah, ridden by Chris McCarron, third.
A 3-year-old daughter of Diesis, Love Divine has won two of three career starts, having finished second in her only outing as a 2-year-old.
The winner owned by businessman Trevor Harris and his wife, Libby, is likely to be pointed toward the Newmarket Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks as targets.
