The National Thoroughbred Racing Association is offering a $1-million grand prize as part of a contest linked to Friday's All-Star Jockey Championship at Lone Star Park. According to the contest rules outlined on the NTRA's Website, the grand prize winner will be drawn from entries that have correctly predicted the exact order of finish of the 12 jockeys. A second prize of the trip to the Breeders' Cup will be awarded to either a person who predicted the correct order of finish but was not the random selection from qualifying entries, or from the pool of people who came closest to picking the correct order of finish.
The jockeys in the competition are Pat Day, Kent Desormeaux, Laffit Pincay, Jr., Shane Sellers, Robby Albarado, Jorge Chavez, Craig Perret, Edgar Prado, Jose Santos, Mike Smith, Alex Solis, and the leading jockey from the host site, Lone Star Park, Donnie Meche.
Entries are being accepted online and via the mail. The online entry deadline is 8:00 p.m. (EDT) Friday, and mail entries must be postmarked by Thursday if mailed to: 2000 NTRA All-Star Jockey Championship, 444 Madison Ave Suite 503, New York, NY 10022. (Details, entry form, NTRA
