West By West, among the leading third-crop sires in North America, will stand the Southern Hemisphere season at Haras de la Pomme in Argentina. The son of Gone West, who has been represented by three stakes winners this year, is scheduled to return to John T. L. Jones Jr.'s Walmac International near Lexington, Ky. for the 2001 Northern Hemisphere breeding season. Haras de la Pomme bred champion Gentlemen, who also stands at Walmac…The NTRA Thoroughbred poll remained unchanged with Golden Missile holding on the top spot for the second week in a row. Behrens and Fusaichi Pegasus take the show and place positions on the poll. Fusaichi Pegasus might have to settle for the third in the Thoroughbred poll, but the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner still holds the top spot on the 3-year-old poll. Red Bullet and Aptitude remain unchanged in second and third. Corey Nakatani, Pat Day, and Kent Desormeaux lead all jockeys in the North American Thoroughbred Leaders by earnings. On the trainers side, D. Wayne Lukas leads the way with 66 winners from 372 starters. He is followed by Bob Baffert and Robert Frankel. Among North American horses Fusaichi Tops the earnings chart, but Prince of Wales's (Eng-I) winner Dubai Millennium tops him worldwide...After 10 months of construction and renovation, the National Museum of Racing at Saratoga will reopen July 9. The reopening will feature new, update, and special exhibits.
