Keats to Acadiana in Louisiana

Grade II winner Keats will enter stud at Jerry Meaux' Acadiana Ranch near Lafayette, La. A 5-year-old son of Hennessy, Keats scored his big win in the 2001 Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland. His other stakes performances came in third-place finishes in the 2000 Iroquois Stakes (gr. III) and 2002 New Orleans Handicap (gr. II).

Keats earned the bulk of his $462,840 for Henry Pabst, who bought him as a 2-year-old. Keats, who initially raced in Ireland and England, retired with five wins from 20 starts. He will stand as the property of John T.L. Jones Jr.'s Walmac International for a fee of $2,500.

Keats' dam, Alaska Queen (by Time for a Change), is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including grade II winners Darn That Alarm and Strong Performance.
