Equibase Co. has acquired AXCIS Information Network Inc., a leading provider of electronic handicapping information through its TrackMaster brand. The company offers handicapping information for Thoroughbred, Standardbred, and Quarter Horse racing.
“By applying its expertise to manipulate raw Equibase data, AXCIS has developed one of the most comprehensive lines of quality handicapping products for racing fans available today,” Equibase chairman Alan Marzelli said. “AXCIS has also been extremely active in the business-to-business side of racing, delivering information-based products and services to racing's interactive platform providers.
“We will continue those efforts and create and distribute a whole new generation of TrackMaster products and services that utilize both traditional and new media in support of industry-wide efforts to grow racing's fan base.”
California-based AXCIS was founded in 1989, and was the first electronic distributor to sell products that use Equibase data. Through its TrackMaster brand, AXCIS offers products for every level of handicapping skill.
AXCIS president David Siegel said the deal will “expand the market penetration of our core TrackMaster product line.”
The acquisition gives Equibase ownership of the TrackMaster Speed, Pace, and Class Ratings that appear in Equibase's own electronic “fan friendly” product line in addition to past performances in live and simulcast programs nationwide. It also provides another significant opportunity for future growth across breed boundaries as a result of AXCIS' exclusive agreement with the United States Trotting Association for the distribution of harness racing past-performance information. Equibase already provides complete access to American Quarter Horse information, in cooperation with the American Quarter Horse Association.
