Marylou Whitney's homebred Eclipse Award contender Bird Town (by Cape Town) is booked to another champion contender, Empire Maker (by Unbridled), who is entering stud at Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms near Lexington. Three-year-old Bird Town scored grade I wins in this year's Acorn Stakes (gr. I) and Kentucky Oaks (gr. I).
"We looked at three different sires," said Whitney's husband, John Hendrickson, who manages his wife's bloodstock. "Empire Maker and Bird Town matched up beautifully by looks."
The foal will be inbred 4 x 4 to Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector.
Bird Town is a half-sister to grade I winner Birdstone (by Grindstone), who is training for Whitney with Nick Zito.
