Jockey Ray Cochrane returned to the races for the first time since suffering injuries in a June airplane crash near Newmarket Race Course with a win in Friday's Fund For Addenbrooke's Fillies' Handicap at Newmarket, according to Sporting Life. Cochrane was injured along with fellow rider Frankie Dettori in the crash which killed the pilot, Patrick Mackey. The race was a fitting one for Cochrane to return in as Addenbrooke Hospital is where the two jockeys were treated following the crash.
Sporting Life reports that Dettori is now expected to return ahead of schedule, perhaps as soon as August 2 if Dubai Millennium races in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood that day. (More, Sporting Life
