Grade I winner Birdonthewire will stand the 2004 season at Cal Fischer's Madera Thoroughbreds near Madera, Calif., as the property of the farm for $3,000. A 14-year-old son of Proud Birdie, Birdonthewire has sired seven stakes winners and seven stakes-placed runners. His progeny earnings total $4.6 million.

Birdonthewire, who was produced from the Jontilla mare Silk and Wrapper, scored his big win in the Vosburgh Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park and captured a pair of grade II stakes in New York. He formerly stood at Frank Stronach's Adena Springs South near Ocala, Fla. Adena Springs has retained breeding rights in him.
