Ruler's Court, shown winning the Norfolk, will miss the Kentucky Derby.
Godolphin has announced that Norfolk Stakes (gr. II) winner Ruler's Court will miss the UAE Derby (UAE-I) on March 27 after suffering a knee injury in Dubai, eliminating the colt from the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) picture.
"Unfortunately, he will be not be able to run in Dubai and all future plans are on hold," Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said.
Ruler's Court, who raced in Shiekh Mohammed's colors this year under the care of Eoin Harty, destroyed his field in the Norfolk, winning 14 lengths after showing an electrifying turn of foot on the far turn.
Instead of running back in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I), he immediately was whisked off to Dubai and placed under the Godolphin banner. He was being pointed to the UAE Derby, after which he would return to the U.S. for the Kentucky Derby.
