Grade II winner Monarch's Maze will enter stud at Mark Toothaker's Tooth-Acres Farm near Lavaca, Ark. A 7-year-old son of Kingmambo, Monarch's Maze came within about a fifth of the second of a Aqueduct course record in winning the 1999 Red Smith Handicap (gr. IIT) and took the Jamaica Handicap (gr. IIT) at Belmont Park a month earlier. Stakes-placed twice in his career, he retired with four wins from a dozen starts and earnings of $286,755.
Monarch's Maze, who was produced from the Text mare Puzzle Book, is a half-brother to graded stakes winners Mysteriously and Brock Street (in Canada). His fee is $1,500 live foal.
