Top Race Horse, Producer Maplejinsky Dies

Edited from Three Chimneys releaseThree Chimneys President Dan Rosenberg announced Wednesday that the top race mare and producer Maplejinsky, owned by Jayeff "B" Stables, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 5, of a ruptured aorta. She has been buried in the cemetery at the Old Bradley Place division (formerly known as King Ranch) of Three Chimneys.
A foal of 1985, Maplejinsky won the Alabama S. (gr. I) at Saratoga and the Monmouth Oaks (gr. I) in 1988 and she had five wins from nine starts that year. She was by Nijinsky II, out of the champion sprinter Gold Beauty and a half-sister to European Horse of the Year Dayjur. Maplejinsky was owned during her racing career by Susan Kaskel, trained by P.G. Johnson and was bred by Mrs. Georgia E. Hofmann.
Her first foal was champion older mare, millionaire and Filly Triple Crown winner Sky Beauty, a foal of 1990 by Blushing Groom. Maplejinsky also produced the dam of multiple grade II winner Country Hideaway. Maplejinsky produced a filly by Rahy in 2003 and was in foal to Giant's Causeway at the time of her death.
