Frank Stronach's open forum to discuss key issues facing the Thoroughbred racing industry has been rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 14. The meeting, to be held at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Fla., was originally slated for Jan. 8. The forum was moved to avoid a conflict with the Keeneland mixed sale that runs Jan. 8-12.
Stronach called for the meeting in a letter published in trade publications during the last week of November. In his letter, the founder of racetrack conglomerate Magna Entertainment proposed a new way to elect National Thoroughbred Racing Association board members. He also called for the industry to work toward reducing federal, state, and local regulations that prohibit racetracks from operating in a free-enterprise business environment.
He invited racetrack owners and racehorse owners and breeders to attend the forum so his ideas could be discussed. The forum will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Anyone interested in attending the forum should contact Betty Hiraga for registration information. Hiraga can be reached at (904) 457-6105.
