Central Kentucky stallion Affirmed, who underwent surgery on his left front pastern joint at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital near Lexington in the fall, is back at the clinic. The 26-year-old stallion was sent there on Jan. 8 from the Bell family's Jonabell Farm near Lexington."He was suffering from soreness in his right front foot," said farm president Jimmy Bell "It's easier to care for him at the clinic and insure his safety and comfort."When asked about the chances of Affirmed being ready for the start of the breeding season, Bell replied, "I don't think he's going to be." Bell added that he could not rule out the possibility of laminitis developing.Triple Crown winner Affirmed (Exclusive Native -- Won't Tell You, by Crafty Admiral) has stood at Jonabell since 1992 and has sired 77 stakes winners.
