Hollywood Park Cuts Purses by 8%

Management at Hollywood Park announced Monday there will be an 8% purse reduction at the Autumn meet that is currently underway.
In a release, the track said the overnight purse adjustment, made in consultation with the Thoroughbred Owners of California, will take effect with Thursday's program.
"We started the season with a significant overpayment from the 2002 meeting," said track president Rick Baedeker. "While we adjusted purses accordingly, we were a bit too conservative."
