For the second consecutive week, the 10 top stallions held down the fort, although there were several minor switches in the ranks. The top two, however, remained the same. Cee's Tizzy leads with progeny earnings of $1,327,110, and second-crop sire Maria's Mon holds down the runner-up spot, with $1,201,328.
The big leaper on the leading sire list is Glitterman, whose son Balto Star took the March 24 Turfway Spiral Stakes (gr. II). The $360,000 earned by Balto Star helped boost Glitterman's seasonal earnings to $803,695, good enough for the No. 14 spot. Glitterman (Dewan -- Moon Glitter, by In Reality) stands at Nathan Fox and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kaster's Wafare Farm near Lexington.
Getting back to the top two, Cee's Tizzy (Relaunch--Tizly, by Lyphard) stands at John C. Harris' Harris Farms near Coalinga, Calif., and Maria's Mon (Wavering Monarch -- Carlotta Maria, by Caro) stands at Pin Oak Stud near Versailles, Ky.
Three other stallions -- Broad Brush, Gilded Time, and Thunder Gulch -- have gone over the $1 million mark in progeny earnings since the previous week. Broad Brush (Ack Ack -- Hay Patcher, by Hoist the Flag) stands at Graham J. Beck's Gainesway Farm near Lexington, and Gilded Time (Timeless Moment -- Gilded Lilly, by What a Pleasure) stands at Tom Simon's Vinery Kentucky near Lexington. Third-crop stallion Thunder Gulch (Gulch -- Line of Thunder, by Storm Bird) stands at Ashford Stud near Versailles.,
