Several three-year-olds pointing toward upcoming Kentucky Derby (gr. I) prep races stretched their legs Tuesday, with the sharpest move being put in by the Bob Baffert-trained Congaree, who got six furlongs in 1:11 3/5 handily at Santa Anita.
Congaree, an impressive allowance winner March 17 in Southern California on the undercard of stablemate Point Given's San Felipe (gr. II) victory, will likely make his next start in next Saturday's Wood Memorial (gr. II) at Aqueduct. The son of Arazi will face a strong field in New York headed by Florida Derby (gr. I) winner Monarchos.
Also in Southern California, Millennium Wind drilled a mile in 1:37 1/5 handily, at Hollywood Park under Laffit Pincay Jr. The David Hofmans-trained half-brother to 1999 Derby and Preakness (gr. I) winner Charismatic is being pointed to next Saturday's Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland.
Bonnie Scot, who was knocked out of last week's Spiral Stakes (gr. II) at Turfway Park by a fever, worked six furlongs in the slop at Keeneland in 1:16 breezing. A run at the Blue Grass is a possibility.
At Lone Star Park in Texas, Louisiana Derby (gr. II) winner Fifty Stars breezed a half in :52 1/5 in preparation for Saturday's $500,000 Texas Derby.
