Walter "Buddy" New's Scat Sam Man, a son of Scatmandu who is expected to make his stakes debut in Saturday's Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (gr. II), breezed four furlongs over a "fast" track on Tuesday at Churchill Downs.

Trainer Tom Amoss' colt completed the distance in :50, which was the slowest of nine works at the distance.

Scat Sam Man, a winner of two of three career races, is coming off an impressive two-length victory in a six-furlong allowance race on Nov. 1 at Churchill Downs. He broke his maiden in his previous outing at Ellis Park.

Iroquois Stakes (gr. III) winner The Cliff's Edge is expected to be the favorite in a Kentucky Jockey Club field that could also include Commendation, Gran Prospect, Proper Prado, Jamian, Mach Speed, Saltire and Suave.
