Grade II winner Early Flyer will take up stallion duty at Clarence and Dorothy Scharbauer's Valor Farm near Pilot Point, Texas, for a fee of $2,500. A 5-year-old son of Gilded Time, Early Flyer retired with four wins from 15 starts and earnings of $371,140.
One of the top 3-year-old sprinters of 2001, Early Flyer captured the San Vicente Stakes (gr. II) at seven furlongs in his fourth start and took the Lazaro Barrera Memorial Stakes (gr. III) over the same distance in 1:20.42 over Squirtle Squirt. Against older horses later that year, he finished ahead of Xtra Heat and Kona Gold in a runner-up effort in the Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash Stakes (gr. I) at six furlongs.
Early Flyer, who placed in four additional stakes, initially raced for his breeder, Verne H. Winchell, in the name VHW Stables, then for the Winchell Family Trust. His dam, Bistra (by Classic Go Go), is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including grade I winner and millionaire Olympio and grade II winner Call Now.
