The four-day Royal Ascot meeting begins Tuesday, with a clash of Two Thousand Guineas winners on tap in the opening day feature, the St. James's Palace Stakes (Eng-I). In the one-mile race, Mrs. John Magnier and Michael Tabor's Entenmanns Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-I) winner Black Minnaloushe will face Godolphin's Dubai Poule d'Essai des Poulains -- French Two Thousand Guineas (Fr-I) winner Noverre and nine other 3-year-olds.

The St. James's Palace Stakes is the third race on the six-race opening day card, which also includes two group II and two group III races.

Wednesday's card is highlighted by the Prince of Wales's Stakes (Eng-I), a 1 1/4-mile race for 3-year-olds and up. The field is headed by Godolphin's Fantastic Light, Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT) winner Kalanisi, and Observatory, who defeated Giant's Causeway in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Eng-I) at Ascot last September.

The course at Ascot is currently listed as good with a patch of good-to-firm ground approaching the turn for home.

The field for Tuesday's St. James's Palace Stakes will consist of: Black Minnaloushe, Dandoun, Darwin, Keltos, Malhub, Minardi, No Excuse Needed, Noverre, Olden Times, Tamburlaine, and Vahorimix.
