(from Hollywood Park notes)Defending champion Dress To Thrill and Dedication will be flown from New York to California on Monday to compete in the $500,000 Matriarch for fillies and mares Nov. 30, trainer Christophe Clement confirmed Sunday.
"It's getting cold here and time to go to California," said Clement. "I've had luck there in the past with Voodoo Dancer." Assistant Arnaud Delacour will accompany the 4-year-old fillies.
Dress To Thrill, who won The Matriarch last year for Dermot Weld in her last start of the year before being turned over to Clement, has won one of four starts this year and earned $187,780. She won the All Along Breeders' Cup Stakes at Colonial Downs in July and most recently finished fourth in the Flower Bowl Invitational (gr. IT) at Belmont on Sept. 27.
Dedication comes off an allowance victory on the Belmont turf Oct.13 in her fourth United States start. The French import won the Group I Prix de la Foret at Longchamps last year.
Corey Nakatani, the Hollywood Park Turf Festival leader with ten victories, will ride one of the two.
