Scapade gave jockey Julio Garcia his second consecutive stakes victory on the Florida Million program by winning the $200,000 Elmer Heubeck Distaff at Calder Saturday.

Scapade showed speed early, fell back on the backstretch and came on in the stretch, splitting horses near the eighth pole and drawing away under pressure.

"The main thing I was concerned with in this race was getting this filly in a good position early," Garcia said. "Once she is in a spot that makes her comfortable she gives you so much run. When I reached the three-eighths pole I had so much horse I couldn't believe it. I didn't use her up very much, she had so much more in her."

The 3-year-old Skip Trial filly trained by Rodolfo Garcia defeated Redoubled Miss by 1 ¾ lengths with Secret Request finishing third. The 7-to-10 favorite Smok'n Frolic was fifth.

Scapade covered the 1 1/16 mile in 1:46 2/5 and paid $18.20, $6.60 and $4.40 for the victory. She is owned by the Tanourin Stable of Camil Torbay, who is a contractor in Venezuela who builds shopping centers. Scapade's fourth victory – all at Calder – was worth $120,000, nearly doubling her career bankroll to $246,770.

Redoubled Miss returned $4.20 and $3.20. Secret Request's show was $12.20.

Smoke'n Frolic rallied to reach even terms with the winner in the stretch under John Velazquez but could not keep up, losing by 4 1/2 lengths.
