Gantt has headed up the promotions department since joining Calder in 1999. ...Ellis Park in western Kentucky has raised purses for overnight races by 9%, effective immediately. Daily purses will now average $219,850, a record, for all programs with 10 or more races. Earlier in August, the track raised purses 5%. General manager Paul Kuerzi said strong on-track attendance and handle figures fueled the increases.
