Former president Bill Clinton and golf pro John Daly were among those invited to a charity golf tournament Monday at Magna Golf, a private course owned by Magna International in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. The Globe and Mail of Toronto reported that money raised during the exclusive tournament would go to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children.
The 7,000-yard championship course has 50 members, each of whom paid an initiation fee of $75,000, plus an annual fee of $10,000, according to the National Post. Clinton was to speak at a dinner Monday night at the Magna International headquarters. He had flown to Ontario on a Magna corporate jet and was paid an appearance fee, the newspaper said.
Mark Stubbs, a day trader and horse owner from Aurora, was one of the players in the tournament, which cost $25,000. "I have no respect for money," he told the National Post. "You can lose $25,000 in a minute."
