Michael Tabor's Yonaguska will start from post position seven under highweight of 122 pounds in the $100,000 Hollywood Prevue Stakes (gr. III) Sunday at Hollywood Park. In his most recent race, Yonaguska finished 11th in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I).
"We're going to go ahead and run him at his best distance, seven-eighths of a mile," assistant trainer Randy Bradshaw said earlier this week. "He's a grade I winner at the distance and he bounced out of the Breeders' Cup very well."
Yonaguska won the seven-furlong Hopeful Stakes (gr. I), finishing in a dead heat with City Zip in that Saratoga race. Since then, the 2-year-old son of Cherokee Run finished third in the Champagne Stakes (gr. I) before his run in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Both those races were at 1 1/16 miles. Yonaguska is trained by D. Wayne Lukas and has won three races in six career starts.
Also entered is the Craig Lewis-trained Chinook Cat, who has won one of three career starts and finished third in the restricted Barretts Juvenile Stakes -- won by Squirtle Squirt -- in his most recent race. A chestnut son of Tabasco Cat, Chinook Cat will be ridden by David Flores.
