First-crop stallion Matty G, who ranks seventh on the freshman sire list by progeny earnings, will be relocated to Darby Dan Farm (John Phillips, managing partner) near Lexington and will be re-syndicated. Eight-year-old Matty G is represented by five winners and the earners of $202,335. His son Mayakovsky set a track record of 1:03.32 for 5 1/2 furlongs at Saratoga, then ran second in the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) at the Spa. A daughter, Divine Angel, placed in the Sorority Stakes (gr. III) at Monmouth Park and has won or placed in all four starts.
Matty G, a half-brother to $2.1 million-earner Star of Cozzene, won the Hollywood Futurity (gr. I) and Ascot Handicap (gr. IIIT) and earned $443,275. He began his stallion career in Florida, and stood the 2001 season at Pegasus Ranch near Petaluma, Calif. Matty G (Capote--Star Gem, by Pia Star) is scheduled to arrive Sept. 13, and it is expected his fee will be in the $10,000 range.
