Owner Seymour Cohn Dead at 92

Seymour Cohn, who was involved in racing for more than 50 years, died today in New York. He was 92.
Services will be held Nov. 16 at Schwartz Brothers/Jeffers Funeral Home in Forest Hills, N.Y.
Cohn raced numerous stakes winners in his purple and white silks, among them Kashatreya, Cannon Shell, Chasin' Wimmin, Pentelis and Putting Green.
His horses were trained for many years by John Hertler. At one time, counting horses in training and broodmares, Cohn owned more than 200 horses.
Kashatreya won nine of 46 starts, including five stakes, and earned $541,590. Her victories included the True North Handicap (gr. II) in 1999 and Fall Highweight (gr. II) the following season.
Cohn's daughter, Penny Hallman, operates Merrylegs Farm in Upper Brookville, N.Y. He is also survived by a son, Marc.
He stood three stallions at Highcliff Farm in New York. The stallions Daygata, Mesopotamia, and Hidden Vice remain at Highcliff.
Cohn was the retired chairman of Sylvan Lawrence, a real estate investment firm.
