High Winds KO Racing at Aqueduct, Laurel, Woodbine

From track releasesOne day after leading to cancellation of the last two races at Hawthorne Race Course in Illinois, high winds also cancelled the Thursday card at New York's Aqueduct, Laurel Park in Maryland, and Woodbine in Canada. All three tracks are scheduled to be open for simulcasting.
At Laurel, winds were consistently clocking at 30 miles per hour in the morning with gusts up to 50 mph in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. region.
The final two races on Hawthorne's Wednesday card were cancelled after gusts of 50 mph were reported in Chicago and a heavy wind advisory was issued for the area.
The outstanding wagers for the card are priced accordingly due to Illinois Racing Board Rule 308.50. The Pick 3 that began on race seven. According to the rule, two legs of the wager need to be completed for the wager to be paid. Due to the rule, the Pick 3 beginning on race six is paid on 2/3 winners. Also, the Pick 4 is paid out on 2/4 winners. Additionally, the Pick 6 is paid on 5/6 winners.
The winds are expected to continue into the night then lighten up by early morning.
Payouts on paid wagers are as follows:
Race 6 Pick 4 pays 2/4 - $252.60
Race 6 Pick 3 pays 2/3 - $116.80
Pick 6 pays 5/6 - payout $298.40
