Owner/trainer Janis Gerace netted $190,000 in bonuses when two members of her barn -- Sea of Green and Loaded Gun -- starred in this year's Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Championships (MATCH), which concluded Sept. 29.
Sea of Green was the 3-year-old sprint division champ with 54 points, and thus ended up the overall MATCH champion. Loaded Gun topped the 3-year-olds and up sprint division with 28 points.
Other winners were Queue, who took the division for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up, going long on the turf, with 43 points; Key Lory, who won the division for 3-year-olds and up going long on the turf, with 30 points; and Superduper Miss, winner of the division for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up, sprinting, with 37 points.
Harry Vega was the leading jockey in this year's MATCH series with 69 points.
Stakes in the series are held through the spring and summer at several tracks in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Delaware Park, Meadowlands, Monmouth Park, and Pimlico Race Course.
