Irish-based freshman stallion Fasliyev tied End Sweep's record mark of 34 2-year-olds from a year's crop when his daughter Ouimonamour won Nov. 4 at Maisons-Laffitte in France. The total includes one Australian winner, Resilence, from a crop conceived when Fasliyev stood the 2000 Southern Hemisphere season in Australia in his first year at stud.
Fasliyev's total includes seven stakes winners, four of them European group winners: Carry On Katie, Russian Valour, and Kings Point in England, and Much Faster in France. The richest of the foursome, Carry On Katie, won the Sky Bet Cheveley Park (Eng-I) and Peugeot Lowther (Eng-II) Stakes. Much Faster also won two group events.
End Sweep, now deceased, set his record from the days when he was standing at Harry Mangurian Jr.'s Mockingbird Farm near Ocala, Fla. His 34 winners in 1998 included one in Japan.
Unbeaten Fasliyev (Nureyev -- Mr. P's Princess, by Mr. Prospector) was a three-time champion as a juvenile--in England, Ireland, and France -- before entering the stallion ranks at Coolmore Stud in Ireland. He currently stands at Coolmore Australia. His Irish fee, 20,000 euros in 2003, has been raised to 75,000 euros (approximately $87,000).
