Timbourina could provide Timber Country with his first group I winner outside Japan in the $625,000 (Australian funds) Victoria Oaks (Aust-I and 2,500 meters) at Melbourne's Flemington oval on Nov. 6.
She staked her Oaks claim in winning traditional prep, the Wakeful Stakes (Aust-II), over 2,000 meters on the opening day of the VRC Spring Carnival on Nov 1. A storming finish saw her defeat 1,000 Guineas (Aust-I) winner Special Harmony (by Spinning World) by a length.
From the second of three generations left by the Preakness (gr.I) winner from Arrowfield Stud, Timbourina was a $310,000 yearling purchase by her trainer Tony Wildman.
