Grade I winner Whywhywhy has arrived at Bruce Kline and partners' Spendthrift Farm near Lexington, where he will enter stud for $7,500. Retired because of a pulled stifle, the 3-year-old son of Mr. Greeley enters stud with three wins from nine starts and earnings of $315,015.
Spendthrift and the Mr. Greeley syndicate had purchased a half-interest in the colt's breeding rights from owners Fabian Ouaki and Patrick Biancone prior to last year's Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I). Trained by Biancone, Whywhywhy finished unplaced as the favorite in the race.
Whywhywhy, who was bred by James E. Jones, won last year's Futurity (gr. I), Sanford (gr. II), and Flash (gr. III) Stakes in New York, He went winless in four starts this year, but managed to place in the Swale Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park. His dam, Thorough Fair, is by Quiet American.
