by Margaret RansomDavid and Jill Heerensperger's grade I winner Millennium Wind has developed an abscess in his right front foot and is sidelined again, trainer David Hofmans said. Last year's winner of the Toyota Blue Grass S. (gr. I), who is unraced since a seventh- and last-place finish in the Skywalker H. at Hollywood Park Nov. 2, has battled minor foot trouble and a chronic skin condition for most of his career. "We found (the abscess) about a week ago," Hofmans said. "We're just gonna let it break and move on from there with him. He looks really good, though. His skin is all cleared up and he was training so well. He'll just walk for now." The son of Cryptoclearance, who was purchased for $1.2 million as a Keeneland September yearling in 1999, has won three races from seven starts, with a pair of seconds, for a bankroll of $769,920. In addition to winning the Blue Grass, Millennium Wind earned top honors in last year's Santa Catalina S. (gr. II) and was second in the Louisiana Derby (gr. II). He went on to finish 11th at odds of nearly 10-1 in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and is winless in two starts since. As a two-year-old, Millennium Wind broke his maiden at first asking and was second to 2001 Horse of the Year, Point Given, in the Hollywood Futurity (gr. I). Out of the Drone mare Bali Babe, Millennium Wind is a half-brother to 1999 Horse of the Year, Charismatic, and multiple graded stakes winner Tossofthecoin.
