Five Grade I Events Highlight Hollywood Park Autumn Meet

Hollywood Park will open its Autumn Meet on Nov. 11. The 30-day meet will feature a stakes schedule worth $3.6-million which will be spread out over 14 graded races, including five grade I events.
Two of the five grade I events will held on Nov. 30, closing day of the annual Turf Festival. The pair of grade I's will be the $600,000 Hollywood Derby (gr. IT) and the $500,000 Matriarch (gr. IT). The Hollywood Derby was increased by one furlong to 1 1/4 miles and boosted in purse by $100,000. The Matriarch has been shortened by one furlong to one mile.
The 20-race stakes calendar includes a third grade I event on the Lakeside Turf Course in the $250,000 Hollywood Turf Cup (gr. IT), which will be contested on Nov. 22.
Closing weekend of the Autumn Meet will feature a pair of grade I races, the $250,000-added Hollywood Futurity on Dec. 20 and the $200,000 Hollywood Starlet on Dec. 21.
Opening day feature at Hollywood Park will be the $70,000-added Bien Bien Stakes.
