City Zip (9), with jockey Jose Santos aboard, and Yonaguska, right, with jockey Jerry Bailey up, battle to a dead heat in the 96th running of the Grade I Hopeful Stakes Sept. 2, 2000, at Saratoga. Macho Uno, center, was third.
Michael Tabor's Yonaguska, who finished 11th in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) in his most recent start, will be a $5,000 supplemental entry to Sunday's $100,000 Hollywood Prevue Stakes (gr. III) at Hollywood Park, according to assistant trainer Randy Bradshaw.

"We're going to go ahead and run him at his beast distance, seven-eighths of a mile," said Bradshaw. "He's a grade I winner at the distance and he bounced out of the Breeders' Cup very well."

Yonaguska won the seven-furlong Hopeful Stakes (gr. I), finishing in a dead heat with City Zip in that Saratoga race. Since then, the 2-year-old son of Cherokee Run finished third in the Champagne Stakes (gr. I) before his run in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Both those races were at 1 1/16 miles.

Yonaguska is trained by D. Wayne Lukas and has won three races in six career starts.

Also expected in the Hollywood Prevue are Chinook Cat (David Flores to ride), Gold Shark (Gary Stevens), Our Shining Hour (Kent Desormeaux), and Proud Tower (Victor Espinoza). Others under consideration include Early Flyer, King La Boo, Denied, Tit For Tat, Way to the Top, and Swordfish. Trainer Craig Lewis, who conditions both Chinook Cat and Swordfish, said Swordfish is also under consideration for Saturday's Golden Bear at Golden Gate Fields.
