Gary and Mary West have made it official by announcing that their millionaire Dollar Bill will enter stud at William Schettine's Signature Stallions near Reddick, Fla., for a fee of $3,500 live foal. The Wests, who bought Dollar Bill for $145,000 at the 1999 Keeneland September yearling sale and retired him last month, were enriched to the tune of $1,225,546 through the horse's racetrack achievements.Dollar Bill (Peaks and Valleys--Saratoga Dame, by Saratoga Six) was a fixture in major races across the country and gave a good account of himself in many of them. He captured the Brown and Williamson Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (gr. II) his 2-year-old season in 2000 and placed in nine grade I or grade II stakes over a four-year span. The grade I stakes-placings came in the Stephen Foster, Travers, Toyota Blue Grass, Oaklawn Handicap, and Suburban. Dollar Bill also won the Risen Star Stakes at three and ran fourth in the Preakness (gr. I) and Belmont (gr. I) Stakes.Five-year-old Dollar Bill, who was bred by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Courtney, won four of 22 starts.
