Sheikh Maktoum's Storming Home, seventh as the 2-1 favorite in the John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT), had a chunk taken out of his right hind foot when he was involved in a bumping incident with Sulamani rounding the first turn.

John O'Donoghue, assistant to trainer Neil Drysdale, said the son of Machiavellian -- Try to Catch Me (by Shareef Dancer) was recovering from the incident. He also said Drysdale's two other Breeders' Cup starters -- Mile (gr. IT) runner-up Touch of the Blues and Musical Chimes, 11th in the Filly & Mare Turf, returned to Hollywood Park in good shape.

Also getting cut in a Breeders' Cup race Saturday was Darley Stable's Zozima, who sustained a few cuts and abrasions while running fifth in the Juvenile Fillies (gr. I), according to trainer Eoin Harty.

Meanwhile, trainer John Shirreffs said Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Moss' Tarlow flipped her palate in a ninth-place finish in the Juvenile Filllies. Shirreffs said the incident occurred as the field left the starting gate and that jockey Mike Smith "was afraid to run her too hard because she was making so much noise."
