The first start of the year for Godolphin's Dubai Destination has been pushed back again.
The Champagne Stakes (Eng-II) winner is now unlikely to make next week's Dante Stakes at York following a workout at Newmarket Wednesday morning. He previously missed an anticipated start in the Two Thousand Guineas The son of Kingmambo was an early favorite for the Sagitta Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) but was withheld from that race after falling behind in his training, reportedly due to a bruised foot.
An announcement on the stable's Web site said the colt is still making progress but may benefit from more time before his first start as a 3-year-old.
"He is (pre-entered) in the Dante next week but at this stage is looks unlikely that he will run," Simon Crisford, Godolphin's racing manager told Racing Post. "Dubai Destination is coming along well but he is not really firing at moment and we will give him more time."
In his Champagne victory last September at Doncaster, Dubai Destination defeated eventual 2,000 Guineas winner Rock of Gibraltar.
Calumet Farm bred Dubai Destination from the Alleged mare Mysterial. He has won two of three career starts.
